Monday Adam left for the South and will be gone a couple of days again. Halloween is this week so we carved our pumpkins and tried to make sugar cookies for FHE. Our pumpkins turned out cute and really are some sort of little pumpkin. Just don't look like the ones we grow but worked. The ones imported from the states are just way outrages in price.
Tuesday was spent rounding up the things Emmie and Adam needed to finish their costumes and making them. Adam will not return in time to make his. He is a stick figure. Thankfully I was able to find colored duck tape for both of them at the pink store behind the school. We started to make Emmie's superman boots out of red duck take, long socks and jazz shoes and realized that to get them off we would have to cut them off. So we stopped and will make them on her tomorrow night and hope her feet don't go to sleep while she is wearing them. Emmie hurried and finished making the rest of our sugar cookies for the youth party tomorrow night. They had to be albino pumpkins because we do not have food coloring here.
Wednesday I got Emmie ready for the Halloween party. She looked really cute with her girl friends dressed as Superman. They found under wear and t-shirts and one of the girls had the capes.
After walking her the couple of blocks to meet the group walking to Mutual, Lacie and I went shopping at Banana Jeans. Lacie is growing and nothing fits. It is really hard to buy clothing here. It is all really expensive and made for tiny Taiwan girls. Super Small! Lacie is feeling fat because girls are telling her she is. She is just doing the I am growing up into a young woman change. It's hard on you any time but being here where she is different and bigger is really hard. We found a cute top and skirt she likes. I hope it helps her feel better about herself. At least she will have something that she is not poured into. Luckily Costco here has some normal size pants like what I buy her at home.
Thursday Emmie was off from school because of Parent Teacher Conferences. She spent the day with Addy Southam putting on a surprise party for Elizabeth Klump that is turning 14. All but the 2 oldest youth in the ward went to it. Emmie got Elizabeth a cute tank top and helped Colton buy her a t-shirt to go under it.

Adam was busy all day and late into the night with training meeting which he held in the conference room downstairs in our building. Then they all hiked the mountain again and had dinner. I ran and got them snacks during the day and finished up getting the things needed for Lacie's Halloween Party tomorrow.
Friday was a busy day! I had to be down to the school by 12:15 to help Lacie get into her costume. (her idea) and then help set up the classroom at 12:45 for the Halloween Party. Adam did Emmie's parent teacher conference which started at 1p.m.
Lacie's party was an Olympic theme that one of the mom's from last year put together. The mom in charge was so slow and detailed at doing everything. I was having a really hard time biting my tongue. Especially when the boys of the class started losing interest. I just had to jump in and entertain. The games were fun and Lacie and the kids seemed to enjoy it. Lacie was darling in her flight attendant costume. Everyone wanted a picture. I was glad I could be at her last ever Halloween party!
Adam said that Emmie's conferences went really well. She has 2 C+'s but they are in her hardest classes. English and Physics. The rest of her grades are B+ and A+. That is really saying something in this school. At home seniors have an option to take Physic and it is an AP class. Here it is required freshman science. YIKES! Emmie is holding her own and that is wonderful. All her teachers said they enjoyed her and admired her work ethic. They understand a lot of what they do here is far beyond what Emmie has every done. They like that she comes in for help and encouraged her to continue to do so. They are more then willing to help her prepare for the test and answer any questions she may have. AWESOME!
After all the stuff at school we came home for a few so Adam could do a few things for work and then headed up the mountain early for trick-or-treating. We ordered take out from Texas Rangers and took it with us to eat in the car before going. You have to go early if you hope for a parking spot. All of Taipei (just about) goes up to this little neighborhood to trick-or-treat. Much like Singapore, buses pull up with tons of families. We got the perfect parking place and ran into the Klumps and Southams so we walked around with them. Later we saw Beck's and Gordon's. Afterwards we invited everyone over to hang out downstairs with a movie and all the games and stuff down there. It was a nice evening.
Saturday was spent getting ready for our Sunday lessons and Emmie at dance all day again. Will be glad when we can go and do things again as a family on Saturday. Emmie's practice really take a chuck out of Saturday when they are from 12-4p.m.
What I love about Taiwan.... The teachers at the school. They really care about my girls. After last weeks conferences with Lacie and this week with Emmie. I know they have the best interest of the girls in mind. They go the extra mile to help them learn how to do things here and be successful. It is very much appreciated!
Now onto the next post since I am 2 weeks behind! :(
